Valley of the Ten Peaks, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, 1993

This scene appears on the 1969 and 1979 Canadian $20 bills. I now know why having visited the spot on a lovely October day in 1993. Surprisingly, I was uninspired to make any photographs on my first day here. I didn't even take out my camera. But overnight it snowed, the first snowfall of the season, so I decided to go back and take another look. The snow storm had completely transformed the scene. The new fallen snow accentuated horizontal striations in the rock giving the cliffs amazing character, a new avalanche graced the left side of the photograph bright against the older snow, and the ominious clouds, partially obscuring the peaks, made for quite and interesting sky and dark, cold, windy mood. I'm glad I went back!

This is a signed, numbered, limited edition archival pigment print available in four sizes. Each edition is limited to 25 prints per size. It is available without a mat, with a mat, or with a mat and frame. All photographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the author and embossed with his seal.
